Antique Engagement Rings
Antique Engagement Rings, Vintage Engagement Rings, and Vintage Style Engagement Rings come from a rich heritage of beautiful gold diamond settings. Many families have heirlooms that have been passed down from generations and are used as especially meaningful expressions of love. Others simply prefer the timeless appearance of an antique style piece of jewelry, even if it's freshly crafted and customized.
We are proud to showcase a stunning collection of designs inspired by antique engagement rings and vintage engagement rings. Many of these beatufiul rings feature stunning design elements such as antique style engraving, milgrane, vintage pattern and design, etc. Since we make EVERYTHING here at Emma Parker & Co. to order, we can customize each ring for your specific needs, even down to adding antique flair to an otherwise modern ring.
All of our antique engagement rings and vintage style engagement rings are based on traditional designs and appearances from earlier years, but are produced individually for our clients. These pieces feature the same characteristics of original jewelry of up to 150 years ago, but have the advantage of being produced with contemporary metal quality, construction methods, and tools.
Early engagement rings favor an intricate setting design, often including delicate "filigree" lacework, beaded edges, and more. Antique settings are also more expressive with regard to the way the center stone is secured in place, with trellis mountings and bezel settings being quite common. Three-stone rings are also recognized as a style that has been popular for generations.
Vintage tastes also favored a more colorful ring appearance. Rather than today's trends of ideal diamonds being as clear as possible, diamonds with a hint of yellow color used to carry much more popularity. We offer a comprehensive catalog of loose diamonds, and nearly all our antique rings may be set with a diamond of the specifications of your choice (or even with your own center stone), so you are free to express your own preference in this regard.
Additional color can be seen in the variety of metals and sidestones common in antique engagement rings. Jewelry in yellow, white and rose gold can all be found (see our selection of two-tone rings), although colorless platinum remains a popular choice. Sapphires and other colorful gemstones were often used to complement the center stone, and we are happy to offer these options as well.
As jewelry designs progressed through the antique Victorian, Edwardian and Art Deco periods, a range of visual styles were popular. Exquisite metalwork was the characteristic of the earliest vintage engagement rings, while designs became more geometrically shaped, with clearly defined edges, in later years. Also, a great variety of diamond cuts were used throughout the ages, including Asscher and Marquise diamond styles.
Antique engagement rings imply a much more complex, thoughtful style than a modern solitaire setting, and it's important for you to select a diamond setting that expresses the uniqueness of your personality and relationship. We are happy to work with you to customize any of our settings however you desire, or even help you create a new ring design from scratch or to match an existing piece of jewelry. If you're looking for something special for your vintage style engagement ring, contact us to talk through all the options available. Of course, all the rings you see in our catalog are covered by our money-back guarantee to ensure your satisfaction!
